Cardiac Stepdown Unit

Patients treated in the Cardiac Care Unit progress to the Cardiac Step-down Unit. This 46-bed telemetry unit is the region's largest facility providing continuous cardiac monitoring.

Patients on this unit may be admitted to undergo cardiac monitoring for a pre-existing heart condition, for a condition that may affect their heart rhythm, or to rule out a cardiac origin for a newly diagnosed condition.

The step-down unit is also where the first phase of rehabilitation begins. A cardiac nurse will talk with you about what to expect after you are discharged, explaining your medical and potential side effects, as well as review any restrictions to your diet and activities.
